Goldendoodle Puppies Available in Texas

We really love Golden Retrievers, but our kids have allergies and we can't handle all the shedding,

We’ve been around Retrievers pretty much our entire lives. Especially Goldens and Labs – we love them. They’re amazing family dogs and you won’t go wrong choosing either. There’s a reason the Lab was the most popular AKC breed in America for over 3 decades. In fact, we’re very proud of our line of AKC English Labs so feel free to contact us if you’d like to chat about them!

For years I watched families fall in love with Retrievers, only to hesitate because of the shedding. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say, “We love Golden Retrievers, but we just can’t because our kids have allergies,” or, “I’ve always been a Lab person, but the shedding has just become too much.” It’s heartbreaking when someone finds the perfect dog temperament-wise, but can’t bring them home because of allergies or the reality of golden fur coating every surface in the house. That’s one of the reasons why Goldendoodles have become such an important part of what we do here at Lost Creek Kennels.

What Makes Goldendoodles Special

The Goldendoodle gives you that wonderful Golden Retriever personality—friendly, gentle, eager to please—without the endless shedding. Now, I need to be honest with you: no dog is truly hypoallergenic. Even purebred Poodles carry some dander. But Goldendoodles typically shed much, much less than purebred Golden Retrievers, and many don’t shed at all. This helps the battle with pet dander and can make living with a pup doable, even if you have allergies!

But when I talk to families years later, after they’ve had their Goldendoodle for some time, it’s not the fur they talk about. It’s the amazing temperament of the pup. The personality…the almost human-like characteristics of the Doodle.

I’ve seen it firsthand with dogs like Keeton, one of our F1b Goldendoodles living in Utah with his momma, Zoe. She told me people actually roll down their car windows just to say hi to him when they’re out walking. That’s the Goldendoodle effect—they’re people magnets.

The Varieties We Raise

At Lost Creek Kennels, we raise both F1 Goldendoodles (first generation, 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle) and F1b Goldendoodles (backcrossed to Poodle, giving you that extra-low shedding coat). If you’re curious about what all those F1, F1b designations mean, we’ve got a whole article explaining the differences.

Our Goldendoodles come in different sizes depending on what fits your life:

Standard Goldendoodles typically run 60-80 pounds. These are your big, gentle giants—perfect if you want a substantial family dog.

Medium Goldendoodles usually land somewhere between 35-65 pounds. This is probably our most popular size. Big enough to be a real dog, small enough to not take over your whole couch.

Mini Goldendoodles generally weigh 15-25 pounds. Travelers, apartment dwellers and people who just want a smaller pup love these. They’re great if you want the Goldendoodle personality in a more compact package.

As for colors, you’ll see creams, deep reds, and sometimes parti-colored pups. Our minis often have that highly sought-after tuxedo coloring that people go crazy for. And from time to time, we’ll have a litter of the amazing English Cream Goldendoodles. Contact us for details on our next litter.

Real Families, Real Stories

Stella the F1 Goldendoodle living with her family in Southern California! Click to see more of Stella.

One of my favorite things about breeding Goldendoodles is hearing back from families. We have Doodles all over the country – from Alaska to Florida…New York to California. Even in Mexico. And we LOVE getting pictures and updates. Check our our Instagram to see many of these updates.

Stella, for example (see image), lives in Southern California and even participates in agility training!

Then there’s Dede, an English Cream Goldendoodle living up in Tennessee with her dad Donny. She absolutely adores him, and I think the feeling’s mutual. Or Bailey, down in the Austin area, doing great with her family. These dogs just integrate into family life so naturally.

The Honest Truth About Goldendoodles

Goldendoodles inherit the best traits from both parent breeds—the Golden Retriever’s friendly, sociable nature and the Poodle’s intelligence and playfulness. But let me be straight with you: they’re also smart enough to get into trouble if they’re bored, so they do need exercise…especially when they’re puppies! And they need occasional grooming to keep that low-shedding coat from matting. Most Doodle parents grow to love doing these things with their pups, however, so don’t worry.

They’re also velcro dogs. If you want an independent pet that gives you space and does their own thing, a Goldendoodle might not be your best match. These dogs want to be with their people.

But if you want a dog that’s gentle with kids, friendly with strangers, eager to learn, and won’t leave fur all over your furniture? That’s the Goldendoodle sweet spot.
