When can our puppy come home? And, what happens if we can’t pick up our puppy on the scheduled weekend?

When can our puppy come home?

Most of our puppies go home between 8 and 10 weeks of age. Sometimes puppies must stay a little longer if they’re not as physically developed, but this is not typical. And we often keep the smallest of puppies (mini-Goldendoodles, Yorkiepoos, etc.) a little longer just to make sure they’re strong and ready for the transition. We’ll communicate all of this with you, depending on your litter. We usually schedule pickup for the weekend following the litter’s 8 week birthday.

What if we can't pick up our puppy on the go-home date?

DON’T WORRY! This is fairly common. Sometimes a family is on vacation right around the time the puppy will be ready to come home…or perhaps there are other non-negociable obligations.

If for some reason you can’t pick your puppy up on the designated weekend, we can board the puppy. Here are the details:

  1. We require you to pay half the price of the puppy on the first Friday after the puppy turns 9 weeks old. (This money is non-refundable.) The balance, plus the boarding fee will be due at puppy delivery/pick-up.
  2. We charge $20/day for boarding, beginning the day the puppy turns 10 weeks.
  3. We”ll require you to purchase a crate for your puppy that we will use while we hold the puppy. (Like this one.) The crate is yours to keep, and the good news is that we’ll begin crate/potty training here at the farm. Your puppy won’t be fully trained, but she’ll have an introduction! You can ship the crate directly to us from Amazon and we’ll give it to you at puppy pick up. Feel free to ship us any other items you’d like us to use with your pup. (Collar, leash, etc., or if you’d like us to begin feeding a different type of food.) See our Recommended Supplies page for ideas.
  4. If the puppy stays long enough to have an additional round of vaccinations, then you must pay for that vet visit or round of vaccines. We’ll let you know ahead of time if this will be needed. A round of vaccinations is typically around $50.

The good news is that the boarding time will be beneficial for your puppy! We will continue socialization and will even introduce her to crate/potty training!

There is no boarding fee if the puppy must stay longer due to developmental reasons.
