Best Dog Food??
Go to google and search for “best dog food”. You’re going to see page after page after page of Top 10 lists, vet recommended dog food and everything ranging from dry to canned to organic to raw to do-it-yourself puppy food recipes.
If you’re anything like me, you’re going to find yourself in a dog food analysis paralysis!
So is it just a guess?
Our oldest Goldendoodle, Baldie, struggled with food allergies when he was young. He had a very sensitive stomach and we even took him to the vet to try to help him. But in the end, it was just a matter of finding the right food for him. As it turns out, he was very sensitive to chicken.
We tried a number of brands including some of the most expensive foods available. We finally found a couple brands that worked well for him. And they weren’t the most expensive brands!
In the past, we’ve used Blue Buffalo, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Purina, Iams and others. We’ve also used raw food companies and continue to supplement our animals with various fresh, real, raw foods. Now, we’re not saying these aren’t good foods. On the contrary, many of these are EXCELLENT foods. But sometimes, one food just may not work for a specific dog. There’s nothing wrong with trying any of these to see if your pup likes it!
What's the anwer?
For now we recommend Diamond Naturals. It’s excellent quality food at a decent price. We’ve not had stomach issues with Diamond Naturals and our dogs who have tried it have seemed to like it very much!
But as we said, there are many excellent foods to choose from and you may find that another works even better for your pet. It may be a bit of trial-and-error for a while until you find something that’s ideal for your little family member. For that reason, it might be best to buy small bags so you’re not out a lot of money on a bag of food that didn’t work!
And as always, please follow the feeding instructions on the bag of the food you choose. The excellent food companies take into consideration nutrient amounts and calories. and while it might seem like you’re not feeding your puppy enough food, you almost certainly are!
